
Qualified Train Driver
We are recruiting for a Talent Pool of Qualified Train Drivers who want to deliver a high-quality rail service across the GWR network.
Great Western Railway (GWR) Qualified Train Drivers play a crucial role in setting a new standard for rail which is focused on creating a relaxed, fast, efficient, and fun experience for Great Western Railway (GWR) passengers. In addition to this, Great Western Railway (GWR) Drivers also provide the technical and operational specialism within Great Western Railway (GWR) teams, delivering the highest standard of service.
Great Western Railway (GWR) pride ourselves on both Safety and Customer services and are looking for people with excellent Safety Critical records, who enjoy being part of a team.

The role requires exceptional focus and attention to detail. Your ability to follow protocols and make critical decisions will be second to none. Safety and Great Western Railway (GWR) Passengers are at the heart of everything Great Western Railway (GWR) do in GWR and to ensure Great Western Railway (GWR) Qualified Drivers have the aptitude and passion to drive this, the application process, involves an online Situational Judgement exercise, a review of the RSSB B1 Transfer of Safety Critical Information history and a selection interview which measures the key requirements of the role.
There are a few essentials to consider before applying:
- Do you live within 60 minutes commuting distance of the depot? For safety reasons you must live within this maximum commuting time to the job location and be able to arrive for a variety of shifts, including weekends and nights which will have varying start and finish times
