Lalu Prasad Yadav, a former chief minister of India and RJD leader, was the subject of a search by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which resulted in the recovery of gold and 7 million rupees. This news was reported on Saturday, according to ED sources. Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, and his father Lalu Prasad’s home in Delhi were among the residences searched. In addition, the ED searched the residence of Jitendra Yadav, the Samajwadi Party leader in Uttar Pradesh and the spouse of Lalukanya Ragini.
The ED claims that this search was carried out concurrently at 24 locations, including Delhi, Ranchi, Mumbai, and Patna. 900 US dollars, 540 grams of gold coins, 1.5 kg of gold jewelry, and more were discovered in this raid, according to ED sources.
Last Friday, the ED conducted a raid at the home of Lalu Prasad’s three daughters, Ragini, Chanda, and Hema. Additionally, searches were done at the home of Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar’s son. Several persons were appointed to Group “D” jobs in the Railways when Lalu Prasad served as the Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. In return for the job, allegedly, the land was written off at a low cost. According to ED, this operation is a probe into that fraud.
On February 27, the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi summoned Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, and a total of 16 defendants in that case. Based on the CBI’s charge sheet, Lalud was instructed to reply to the summons by March 15. The ED was searched in the meanwhile. Last Tuesday, the CBI questioned ailing Lalu Prasad and his daughter Misa Bharti for five hours. On Monday, Rabri Devi was questioned in Patna.
Tejashwi was one of the nine opposition leaders who complained in a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last Sunday that the CBI and ED were harassing them. According to Tejashwi, the central investigative agencies have now evolved into the BJP’s primary tool against the opposition as a result of the central agency’s hyperactivity. Lalu Prasad tweeted on Friday, “We have lived through the worst days of the Emergency. And I battled. Today, I am witnessing instances of retaliation against my daughters, grandchildren, and expectant daughters-in-law in circumstances that have no basis in fact. BJP can go so far as to engage us in political conflict! I have never bent my head before them, Lalu stated in another tweet. No one from my family or team.
